It can be tempting to react to negative situations or behavior with more negativity, but often, this will escalate conflict rather than de-escalate. You can use positive language and tone to effectively de-escalate issues or tense situations in the workplace or any environment.

Microlesson Description

In this microlesson, we show what empathy looks like to a rude patient and how another colleague exhibits allyship, so the patient adjusts their attitude and behavior. We also ask healthcare professionals how they’ve shown empathy in a difficult situation and turned the conversation around. Hence, you get a better understanding of how your workforce understands and exhibits compassion. Ultimately, empathy shows you care.
